The new guided historic walking tour offered during the 2026 Waterfest celebration was highlighted in the coverage by the Excelsior Citizen.

“Walking tours spotlight mineral water history

Friends of the Wells, a local nonprofit dedicated to returning Excelsior Springs’ mineral waters to tourism, offered historic walking tours during the festival. The tours began at the Hall of Waters and guided participants through downtown for a brief history lesson about the wells and the city’s mineral water heritage.

Volunteer John Clark reported that more than 100 people participated in the walking tours over the weekend. Because of the positive response, there is already discussion about possibly offering the tours more often.”
